Guadalupe Castañeda joined the Johnston lab in the Spring of 2019. After Guadalupe described her future goals and aspirations, Dr. Johnston recommended that she apply to the MARC program. The MARC program at SJSU intends to maximizing access to research careers (MARC) by supporting historrically underrepresented undergraduate students during their training in an academic research lab. Guadalupe applied at the end of the spring semester and was accepted. The MARC U*STAR Program is sponsored by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), a branch of the National Institute of Health (NIH). #latepost
